JBL Professional MRX518S 18" Subwoofer Speaker System

JBL Professional is constantly pushing the threshold for better, more useful products for the working musician and DJ and once again JBL Professional hits the target with their MRX500 Series loudspeakers. The MRX500 delivers outstanding performance for the DJ and musician where a smaller, lighter, more portable system is required with no sacrifice in sound quality or durability. Up to 30% lighter than comparable systems, the MRX was designed from the ground up utilizing JBL's Differential Drive® transducer technology. Specifically engineered for MRX and completing the design, a series of rugged plywood enclosures, covered with JBL’s DuraFlex™ finish, a tough, textured scratch resistant surface, that ensures years of solid performance and professional good looks.

The JBL MRX518S is a portable, eighteen-inch, bass-reflex subwoofer that's super compact with a top pole mount socket for satellite speaker mounting that's ideal for live performance venues as well as mobile and fixed DJ systems.

The MRX518S subwoofer enclosure is designed to present a minimum frontal area. The system offers complete input connection flexibility for compatibility with a variety of cabling schemes. The input panel incorporates a pair of Neutrik® Speakon® NL-4 connectors wired in parallel. The MRX518S is supplied with pins +1/-1 connected to the woofer. This may be easily reconfigured to work with cabling systems intended to drive subwoofers on pins +2/-2. For "Subwoofer/Satellite" configurations, the MRX518S is equipped with a top-mounted, 36 mm pole mount socket that can receive the optional SS3-BK pole. This can be used to mount speakers equipped with standard 35 mm pole sockets and weighing up to 50 kg (100 lbs). The enclosure is constructed of top quality plywood, coated in JBL's rugged DuraFlexT finish and is braced to maximize low-frequency performance. The attractive CNC-machined, 16-gauge steel grille is internally lined with an acoustically transparent screen to provide additional driver protection and give a very professional appearance

Pole Mount Facilities

The MRX518S has a 35mm pole mount socket in the top of the cabinet to allow a MRX515 or MRX512M to be supported above the subwoofer. Elevating your speakers on a tripod stand or pole is a great idea. But, if you raise the speaker too high, half the output hits the back wall causing unwanted acoustic effects. Leave the speaker too low, and the crowd down front gets blasted while those in the rear can't hear. The solution - a pole-mount with two sockets so you have the option of mounting your MRX515 or MRX512M with a 10ş down angle. The result - more uniform coverage of your audience and less energy wasted hitting the walls. Of course you can still use the other socket to position your speakers with no down angle.

The MRX518S is a compact, high power subwoofer system containing a JBL 2044G 457 mm (18") woofer in a front-loaded, vented enclosure.
