Selecon Pacific 40 Degrees Fixed Beam Luminaire

The Selecon Pacific 40 degrees fixed-beam profile luminaire is ideal for short throw applications using conventional halogen light sources, or for medium throw applications using either the 80V 1200W halogen or the MSR discharge light sources. When using the MSR light sources, DMX dimmer control can be achieved by installing the Pacific Dowser, sold separately, between the lamphouse and the lens tube.

Features

  • Beam angle fixed 40 degrees
  • Interchangeable lenses with 20, 30, and 50 degrees models allows changing fixed beam widths
  • Colour coded 20, 30, 40, and 50 degrees lenses for easy identification
  • Universal lamphouse
  • Halogen lamp choices 600W, 800W or 1000W
  • Additional lamp choices 80V 1200W Halogen, 150W MH or 575W MSR
  • Useful throw distances 2 to 12 metres (1000W), much more with 80V and MSR lamps
  • Base down lamp mounted axially in the reflector
  • Interchangeable colour coded lamp modules for selection of the various light sources
  • Interchangeable lens tubes
  • Lens tube rotates 360 degrees allowing for easy pattern alignment and shutter cuts
  • Heat management system removes over 80% of heat from the light beam
  • Cool "whiter" light beam due to reduced infrared component of light beam
  • Height adjustable yoke
  • Two slots for gobo holders, transparency holder or iris
  • Gate is so cool that plastic transparencies can be used with some light sources
  • Lower maintenance costs as lamp base and electrics are out of heated air flow
  • Safety switch disconnects power when lamphouse is opened
  • Cool safer operating controls
  • Built-in retaining clip for colour frame
  • Complies with CE safety requirements

Detailed Features

Pacific 20 degrees to 50 degrees fixed beam profiles utilise an interchangeable set of lenses (left) that are colour coded to identify the beam angle. Users can easily change the lens to change the beam angle of the luminaire, without any dismantling of the luminaire. This makes it practical to have a number of fixed-beam luminaires and a greater number of different lenses to provide a selection of beam angles instead of using less efficient zoomspots in semi-permanent lighting positions.

Selecon Pacific Universal Lamphouse

The universal lamphouse (left) is the foundation building block for each Pacific luminaire. The lamphouse contains the ellipsoidal reflector, the cold dichroic mirror and its heatsink, and it provides the yoke for hanging the luminaire. The desired lamp module attaches to the bottom of the lamphouse and the desired lens tube attaches to the front of the lamphouse with any necessary accessories to create the complete luminaire.

Selecon's planetary gear system on the bottom of the lamp module (right) ensures easy, smooth, beam adjustment from a peak (+3:1) to a flat (2:1) field by rotating the large centre knob. The three small knobs adjust the lamp tilt to enable easy centering of the lamp in the reflector. These controls stay cool for user safety.

Selecon Pacific Fixed Beam Lenses

Selecon's custom lens design enables Pacific luminaires to deliver straight shutter cuts, high contrast, and in-focus pattern projection right across the beam width. Selecon's optical engineers resolved the limitations of plano-convex and spherical lenses such as field curvature, field distortion and astigmatism by designing new lenses with complex aspheric surfaces. As a result, the beam of fixed angle Pacifics will show some chromatic aberration, a bluish tinge around the edge of the beam. This can be minimised by adjusting the lamp position. Of course it disappears when colour filters are used and is difficult to see on stage when part of a total stage lighting picture. Any chromatic aberration in a Pacific Zoomspots can be removed by altering the lens settings.

Heat Management

The unique Pacific heat management system utilises a cold dichroic mirror to remove over 80% of the heat from the light beam. This heat is then dissipated into the surrounding air by the heatsink. Temperature of the light beam at the gate is cool enough to allow the use of plastic transparencies. The lamp socket, safety switch and electrical wiring are contained in the bottom of the lamp module, in the coolest part of the airflow through the luminaire, to maximise the life of components and reduce maintenance costs.

Selecon Pacific Mirror Operation

The cold dichroic mirror technology reduces the amount of infra red (heat) and ultra violet radiation in the light beam. This delivers a cooler beam of light to the stage and increases the life of patterns and colour filters. Colour balance of the light beam is managed by the cold mirror to produce a "whiter" light.
