Rosco Gobos Overview |
|
|
|
Gobos, or patterns,
are used extensively in theatre, film and television to project scenic
images, create atmosphere and increase the visual impact of the lighting.
Texture and shading can enhance any lighting design. Whether it's the
night-lights of a cityscape, a cloudy sky or sunlight filtering through
the leafy branches of trees, gobos are almost certain to be used. |
 |
|
The Rosco
Designer Pattern range offers over 1000 standard gobo designs,
many of which have been created by the worlds leading lighting
designers. Each gobo in our catalogue is displayed with its
Rosco number and name in the bottom left hand corner. |
|
Steel
gobos are used to create shadows, simulate windows and doorways,
project foliage or generate random patterns of light. Rosco
glass gobos, such as Colorizers and Prismatics, can be used
to add broken colour to the projected effect. Rosco specialist
gobos are shown in our catalogue with a letter in the upper
left hand corner as in the gobo pictured below. The letters
we use are... |
| M
= Meshed, C
= Colorizers, P
= Prismatics, SP = Spectrumgobos, SS = Signature Series. |

To project
a pattern the desired gobo is inserted into a gobo holder
which is then inserted into the gate of a profile spotlight.
Animated patterns can be created using gobo rotators in your
luminaires. Rosco gobos are circular to enable the gobo to
be rotated in the gate of the luminaires to align the projected
pattern with the stage or scenery. |
|
Rosco
standard steel gobos are available in sizes A, B, D, E and
M. |
